This week, I embraced my inner hermit. After a burnout-inducing stint outside last week, I barricaded myself at home, emerging only for Friday's basketball practice. I burnt new incense I got from Ashluxe Sunday Market, bought some outfits Ganiru recommended for my wardrobe and started a few crotchet projects I hope I wonโt abandon. It was a lesson in being productive while staying at home โ my Motitomi way of saving energy.

Despite my self-imposed exile, I managed to connect with 46 souls across 22 meetings. Most left me reinvigorated; one made me long for the sweet embrace of unconsciousness. I'll leave that to your imagination. The things we do for the love of work.
Melissa and I conducted our H1 life review โ a ritual where we align our dreams with reality. We dissected our goals, realising I'd made progress on all but the most audacious one. Classic me, shying away from the big fish. Melissa, ever the voice of reason, reminded me of a principle from "10x is Easier than 2x": Focus on one aspect of genius at a time. I can do everything I want, just not simultaneously. It's not multitasking; it's multi-lifing.
Oh, and Notion now has a 'suggest edit' option. If you use Notion for work, you can now suggest changes directly in documents instead of just commenting.
Be still, my organising heart.
While I played hermit, Lagos played Venice. The flooding was very sad and reminded me of last week's scary drive through heavy rain. I could barely see the road and was on the verge of panic. It brought to mind a quote:
"We the unwilling led by the unknowing are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much for so long with so little, we are now qualified to do anything with nothing."
This sardonic commentary perfectly encapsulates Lagos โ brilliant minds led by the short-sighted, accomplishing miracles amidst chaos. Since 2019, I've watched the city deteriorate, yet its residents continue to thrive. We've turned traffic jams into mobile libraries and podcast studios. If that's not alchemy, what is?
To soothe my troubled mind, I dove into interviews with Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a strong opposing candidate in the last State Government elections, extracting nuggets on government serving as platforms for innovation, the importance of local government autonomy, and the need for social justice. It's a long road, but hey, we Lagosians are used to long, flooded roads.
As I turn 26 next Saturday, Iโm proud. My family is proud. My friends are proud. What more could I ask for? [Send me a direct message if you desire to fulfil my wishes ๐]
In the immortal words of Leonard on TikTok: "The composure here is 100. I gats maintain my steeze. Zero gravity is not something you play with. Omoooo. I will be back to earth soon."
Until next week, may you find joy in the journey of becoming. Remember, every new day is the best day of our lives โ especially when it's not flooding.
<aside> ๐ Glossary
Motitomi Moment: A Motitomi Moment is when someone embraces a challenge, learns from it, and reaffirms their inherent strength. It acknowledges one's ability to navigate life's difficulties, using obstacles for personal growth. In these moments, individuals face fears, extract valuable lessons, and build resilience and self-worth, reaffirming they are enough to meet any challenge and emerge stronger.
Multi-lifing: The practice of pursuing multiple life goals or passions sequentially rather than simultaneously, allowing for focused dedication to each pursuit in turn. This concept contrasts with multitasking, suggesting a more intentional and effective approach to achieving diverse life goals. It implies living multiple 'lives' or versions of oneself over time, each focused on different aspects of personal growth or achievement.
