avoid busy eyes eyes that dart around too quickly quickly looking and searching searching for signals of desire

avoid fruitless desire desire rooted in lust lust triggered by fear and greed greed has no real limits

avoid unnecessary limits limits are subconscious beliefs beliefs that do us no good good thoughts are liberating

This is a meditative poem that uses repetition and word-linking to create a flowing contemplation about avoiding harmful patterns of thought and behaviour. The structure is distinctive, with each line carrying forward the last word of each phrase into the beginning of the next, creating a chain-like effect.

  1. The poem is structured in three parallel lines, each starting with "avoid".
  2. Uses a technique called anadiplosis, where the last word of one phrase becomes the first word of the next.
  3. Creates a philosophical journey from external behaviours (busy eyes) to internal states (desire) to mental constructs (limits).
  4. Each line concludes with a positive counterpoint to the negative behaviours described

The poem moves through three levels of human experience:

The repetitive structure shows how these elements are interconnected, how one behaviour or thought leads to another in a chain reaction.
